Educators across North Carolina continue to show extraordinary dedication to creating safe, welcoming environments for all students, including those who may be affected by immigration-related stress or fear. To support this critical work, we are proud to introduce Navigating ICE in NC Public Schools: A Guide for Educators. This resource is designed to help school communities respond confidently and compassionately when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity occurs near schools.
For many immigrant students and their families, the presence or rumored presence of ICE can lead to heightened anxiety, decreased attendance, and difficulty concentrating in class.
Educators often feel the impact of this fear firsthand, yet may not have clear information about what they can do, what the law says, or how best to support their students. Our guide aims to fill that gap.
